Chief Food Co. ("Chief," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Chief mobile application and website at chief.ink (the "Service"). This page explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our Service.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account data: name, email address, phone number, and province (wilaya) when you create an account.
- Order data: items ordered, delivery instructions, and order history.
- Payment: all orders are settled on delivery (cash or equivalent). We do not collect, process, or store any card numbers or bank account details.
- Communications: messages sent through in-app chat with shops or delivery riders, and correspondence with our support team.
- Shop & Rider profile: if you register as a shop owner, we store your shop name, description, logo, banner, and service zone. If you register as a delivery rider, we store your public rider profile.
Information collected automatically
- Location data: foreground GPS location (with your permission) to show nearby shops. Location is only accessed while the app is open and is never tracked in the background.
- Device information: device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage data: app interactions, pages viewed, search queries, time spent, and crash reports.
- Local storage: we use device local storage to remember your preferences and keep you signed in.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the Service: process orders, coordinate delivery, and enable communication between customers, shops, and riders.
- To improve the Service: analyze usage patterns, optimize the app experience, and develop new features.
- To communicate with you: send order confirmations, delivery updates, support messages, and (with your consent) promotional offers.
- To ensure safety and trust: detect and prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.

3. Sharing Your Information
We may share your information with:
- Shops and riders: to fulfill your orders. Shops receive your name, order details, and delivery address. Riders receive your name and delivery address.
- Service providers: third-party companies that help us operate (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, mapping services). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
- Legal authorities: when required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. After account deletion or upon request, we will delete or anonymize your data within 60 days, subject to legal retention requirements.

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

7. Location & Push Notification Permissions
We request access to your device's location services to show nearby shops. Location is only used while you have the app open (foreground) and is never accessed in the background. You can disable location permissions at any time in your device settings, though some features (such as browsing nearby shops) may not work as intended.
We send push notifications for order updates and delivery alerts. You can opt out of push notifications in your device settings or app preferences.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it immediately.
9. International Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed on servers located outside your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and, where appropriate, via in-app notification or email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
